John began his aviation career in 1979 as a commercial pilot. He flew as captain on eight aircraft types at a major U.S. air carrier for nearly three decades and held management positions in the airline’s flight training department. John also served as Assistant Director of Safety at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as well as Chief, Operational Safety at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), where he led the development of industry safety management initiatives and international aviation Standards related to airworthiness, flight operations, personnel licensing, and safety management. Prior to joining Supernal, John led Advanced Air Mobility safety programs as Head of Aviation Safety at Uber over the past five years
